CAFFM Annual Special Events
As a Certified Farmers Market we are required to adhere to certain stipulations about what kinds of vendors can sell at our market and must keep a specific ratio of food producers to artisans present on each Market Day. Some of these stipulations can be lifted four times a year for special events. During the four events below we welcome more vendors, have special activities, and always offer plenty of fun for the entire family.
Coastal Garden Festival (Arbor Day, the last Saturday in February)
The Coastal Garden Festival kicks off the spring season. There are plenty of vendors selling plants and the Master Gardeners are on hand to help you make sure all that you buy thrives in the best conditions. There are kids' activities and often a free seed giveaway. The City of Foley holds its Arbor Day Celebration during the Festival. That celebration includes giving away hundreds of trees to the public for free.
Corn Festival (The day before Father's Day, the third Saturday in June)
The Corn Festival is a celebration of the flavors of summer. Farmers bring in plenty of fresh tomatoes, juicy watermelon, and, of course, corn! The Festival includes kids's activities, a corn-eating contest, and even a culinary showdown. The Corny Dad Cookoff features three local chefs, who also happen to be dads, cooking up a delicious dish using corn as the main ingredient. Then 200 lucky market patrons get to sample each one and vote for their favorite.
Harvest Festival (Saturday before Thanksgiving)
The Harvest Festival offers shoppers a chance to stock up for their Thanksgiving feast. The event also features the annual Little Miss Harvest Queen Pageant where Baldwin County residents in 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade compete for the crown. Anyone wanting to register for the pageant may do so (STARTING OCTOBER 1 NO EARLY REGISTRATION WILL BE ACCEPTED) using the form below and then submit their photo and registration fee to Prisila Hughes at the Foley Parks & Recreation Office at 121 N. Alston Street in Foley.
Christmas Night Market (Midweek in early December)
The Christmas Night Market is a one-stop shop for everyone on your holiday list. The only market event all year that takes place once the sun has set and the stars come out. The market is packed with artisans offering unique gifts, bakers selling Christmas treats, and even a visit from Santa. Anonymously write down your Christmas wish on an ornament and hang it on the market's massive wishing tree.
